Castello San Marco
Its history began in 902 when the Arabs founded the ancient village using it as a strategic point for the conquest of Taormina. In the following centuries, during the Norman period, it was the aristocratic families who brought prestige to the property, such as the Cruyllas, of Catalan origin, who became Barons in 1396 and made changes to the Castle adding the Church of the Holy Crucifix. In 1544 the whole village was sacked at the arrival of the Pirate Dragut and in 1677 it was the French, after the anti-Spanish uprising of Messina, to occupy the The ancient Palmento is now transformed into a Wine Bar, where you can taste the best wines of the area, in an environment that preserves the charm of the ancient Wine Routes, of which the Castle of San Marco represented a main hub.
